Meet Our Staff

Buddy Walker, who is the president of ISU O H Walker Insurance Agency, is a native Charlottean. He follows in the footsteps of his father, who established the agency in 1962. After graduating from King’s College in 1970 with a Business Administration degree, Buddy began his insurance career in 1971 by acquiring both his Property & Casualty license and his Life/Health license. He also holds the insurance degree of “Certified Insurance Counselor.” Buddy specializes in Business Insurance programs and also the personal insurance side of the business. He is an avid tennis player, and he enjoys golf and hiking in the mountains with family.

April originally joined the team after graduating from UNC Greensboro in 2005 through 2014. She rejoined the agency in the fall of 2019 after working for 5 years in Nashville, TN at ABLE where she assisted in growing a thriving fashion social enterprise from the bottom up. She has returned to her roots in insurance, as well as the Matthews and Charlotte area, to lead the O H Walker Insurance Agency team. Service and care for customers is of the utmost importance to April, and when she’s not in the office you can find her spending quality time with her husband Mike & dog Snoopy, on the tennis courts, or relaxing on Beech Mountain, NC.

Michael Kershaw serves as the Director of Sales at O H Walker Insurance, leading growth initiatives and client relationships across North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Georgia, and Florida. With over 20 years of leadership experience in mortgage lending, builder finance, and sales, Michael brings a proven track record of developing high-performing teams and driving strategic market expansion.

Before joining O H Walker Insurance, Michael held senior leadership roles within the builder finance world along with other national lenders, where he built and led multi-state operations, enhanced customer experience, and consistently delivered top-tier results. His deep understanding of financial solutions and commitment to client success now guide his approach to helping individuals and businesses protect what matters most through tailored insurance solutions.

Outside of work, Michael enjoys golf and tennis, playing guitar, and traveling with family and friends.

Bobby Mauney grew up in Norfolk, VA and graduated from Lenoir-Rhyne College with a B.A. in History and a Minor in Business Administration. After graduation, he worked for Wachovia Bank & Trust as a Personal Banker in Asheville, NC, then worked for CIT Corporation as a Commercial Banker in Richmond, VA. He began his insurance career in 1999 with O H Walker Insurance, and he now specializes in the following areas: General and Professional Liability, Commercial Property, Commercial Auto, Workers’ Compensation, Directors & Officers Liability, Employee Practices Liability, Life Insurance, and Home and Auto Insurance.

Interested in the insurance industry and eager to further the family legacy, Alison joined the agency in 1997 after graduating from North Carolina State University with a major in Business Management and Marketing. She has been with the agency for over 25 years and has worked in personal lines, accounting, and commercial lines. Outside of work, her true loves in life are her husband, Josh, and three daughters, Madeline, Riley, and Mackenzie. She also has two dogs and two cats and enjoys playing tennis. She is a breast cancer survivor.

McKenzie Sturdivant joined the O H Walker Insurance Agency after graduating from Appalachian State University with a triple major, including Risk Management and Insurance. With a strong academic background and a passion for helping others, she brings fresh insight and energy to the team. A North Carolina native, McKenzie values connection and community. Outside the office, she enjoys fashion, new coffee shops, spending time with her dog, Sailor, and with family and friends. She’s proud to be part of the O. H. Walker team and excited to serve the Matthews and Charlotte areas.

Born and raised in Charlotte and a proud graduate of Garinger High School and Kings College, Vikki Deese has been with O H Walker for over 20 years! She specializes in Personal Lines but is also licensed in Life/Health. She has been married 30 years and has two beautiful daughters, one great son-in-law, and two awesome grandsons! Jesus is her Lord and Savior! Hobbies include spending time with family and enjoying life!

Marcella was born in Mebane, NC and has lived in Charlotte for over 35 years. She graduated from High Point University with a degree in biology. Marcella holds licenses in P&C, Life, and Health, and she has worked at O H Walker since 2005. In her spare time, she enjoys playing tennis and spending time with her grandchildren.

Sylvia Walker has been in the insurance business since 1969 when she graduated from Kings College here in Charlotte. She worked for an independent insurance agency right out of college for five years then transitioned to O H Walker Insurance Agency. She spent a few years raising both of her girls until they went to school, then returned to the agency. Sylvia cares for many aspects of the day-to-day at O H Walker, including accounting, office management, and answering the phones with great enthusiasm. She and her husband, Buddy Walker, enjoy playing tennis, gardening, traveling, and volunteer work. They’ve enjoyed many years of playing the fun roles of Gigi & Papa to their beloved granddaughters.
