Ken is a Charlotte native who graduated from Independence High school before going on to finish at Western Carolina University with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. While there, he played 4 years of tennis in the Southern Conference. He married the love of his life Sheila at Philadelphia Presbyterian Church in 1981. They have both been members of the church since and Ken has served the church as ordained Elder, Moderator of the Board of Deacons, and Sunday School teacher. He began his insurance career in 1981 by specializing in commercial insurance with a goal of helping to make his customers and their businesses successful. He has since earned Certified Property & Casualty Underwriter and Certified Builders Insurance Advisor accreditations to better serve his clients. Volunteering in the community has been a lifelong commitment for Ken. He has served as Kiwanis president and Rotary president, served on the Matthews Town Board of Adjustment, and coached girls basketball for MARA. He chartered Venture Crews at Independence High School and Philadelphia Church for Boy Scouts of America with years spent as Scoutmaster and Committee Chairman for BSA. He is currently serving on the board of directors for Lake Norman Community Sailing. He recently helped establish Independence Good Fellows who award a College Scholarship for local deserving high school seniors. Ken enjoys playing tennis, teaching sailing lessons, and “hanging out” with his kids.
